Flower Design using a Compass
Below are the visual directions to create a flower design, using your compass. You must do this project by yourself, by following the instructions.
Materials:
Compass (check one out with Ms. Carter), pencil, eraser, piece of plain, printer paper, colored pencils (optional).
1 Without folding, find a way to discover the center of your paper. Use that point as the starting point of your design.
2 Make your flower almost the size of the paper, leaving 1/2 to 1 inch border space.
3 Your design will be graded on neatness and accuracy.
4 Practice with the compass on a piece of scratch paper, in order to master its use, before starting on your actual design. You will not be able to use a ream of paper for your design (look up the word if you don’t know it). Erase mistakes thoroughly.
5 Your design should be nice enough to be displayed in the classroom.
6 Write you name, with a pencil, on the back. You may sign the front, but do it neatly, or stylistically.
